Re: Question about switch 4800G ?
Hi,
This is the End of Sales Announcement of the 4800G series.
http://pro-networking-h17007.external.hp.com/docs/products/eos/4800G_ES_Announcement.pdf
You can find also a table with the recommended replacement products here.
It looks like the 5500 EI and 3800 series are considered functional equivalents and can be used as replacement.
It is good to know that 5500 is Camware based and 3800 is ProVision based.

Re: Question about switch 4800G ?
The 4800G and 5500EI is basically the same switch, but where sold before as 3Com vs H3C. You shouldn't notice any difference between them.
The 5500HI I think added MPLS functionallity to the EI.

Re: Question about switch 4800G ?
and the 5500HI has builtin 10G ports and supports redundant power supplies, which can make a difference depending on the type of deployment role you are looking at ...

Re: Question about switch 4800G ?
Hi MohammadH
Other good thing. You can take the SW from the HP 5500 EI and put it on a 4800G. Then you can Stack the 4800G and 5500 EI together with IRF. Works great ... and is supported.
