S5500G - DHCP Relay stops working and new clients fail to get an IP Address
This support reference for HP switch 5500G (AKA 3Com 5500G-EI) is exactly the error I’m getting on our S5500-24G EI switch A5500
The software versions (3Com’s ?) bear no relation to the HP version numbers.
In our case the issue started after about 180 days uptime.
A reboot has resolved the issue (at least temporarily – presumably cleared the dynamic table)
This other reference describes to a related error but has the ‘correct’ software versions indicated:
It also refers to the dhcp relay hand disable command in versions 2202P15 or later
So, I downloaded the latest, H3C S5500EI-CMW520-R2210, software & bootrom and updated my test(spare) switch
– BUT the dhcp relay hand disable command is not available/valid in V5.20R2210 !
Display Version records below.
Does this mean the original software error has been corrected in R2210 and the dhcp relay hand disable command is no longer necessary ?
Will Bootrom 710 and software H3C S5500EI-CMW520-R2210 ‘cure’ the issue on production switches ?
Thanks, Mac

Re: S5500G - DHCP Relay stops working and new clients fail to get an IP Address
Hi, just a reply to your confusion about the 3Com/HP software version numbering; the switch you've got is the HP A5500/H3C 5500G/3Com 4800G. The 3Com 5500G was a different switch running comware3 whereas your switch are running comware5. So that support note you found does not apply to your switch.
