Stacking JG240A HP A5500 48G-PoE+ EI with H3C S5500-52C-PWR-EI

Hi All,

As HP has renamed the H3C S5500-52C-PWR-EI into  JG240A HP A5500 48G-PoE+ EI, can someone tell me if the two are stackable? I already have 3x of the old H3C S5500-52C-PWR-EI in a stack but due to expansion the team have just procured a  JG240A HP A5500 48G-PoE+ EI switch to also be stacked. Is it possible to introduce the new HP A5500 switch into the stack?

The stack is done by CX4 modules.

Thanks

Jazz

It's the same hardware just renamed so I can't see why it wouldnt work. You'll probably need to upgrade the current stack to a new HP branded software though, since that will probably be whats on the new 5500.

Hi Jazz,

If you take a look at the release notes for the latest code, there's a command in there to set the branding of the switches. I don't remember the exact details, but it seemed fairly straightforward when i was reading them. If i remember correctly, the brand must be set to the same thing on all stack members.
