Stacking two HPE 5130 EI switches using 10GBE?

Is it possible to stack two HPE 5130 EI switches (model: JG941A) using the 10GbE ports. If so what modules/cables are required?

Yes, it is possible !

The documents suggests the following:

When you select transceiver modules and cables, follow these restrictions and guidelines:

тАв Use Category 6A (or above) twisted-pair cables to connect 10-GE ports in a short distance.
тАв Use SFP+ or QSFP+ DAC cables to connect SFP+ or QSFP+ ports in a short distance.
тАв Use SFP+ or QSFP+ transceiver modules and fibers to connect SFP+ or QSFP+ ports in a long distance.
тАв The transceiver modules at the two ends of an IRF link must be the same type.

NOTE:
The transceiver modules and DAC cables available for the switch are subject to change over time. For the most up-to-date list of transceiver modules and DAC cables, contact your Hewlett Packard Enterprise sales representative.

Hi,

If with the word "stacking" you mean "IRF fabric" of two (or more) HPE 5130 EI Switches then good sources are:

  • the HPE FlexNetwork 5130 EI Switch Series IRF Configuration Guide (here)
  • the Chapter "Setting up IRF fabric" of HPE FlexNetwork 5130 EI Switch Series Installation Guide (here)
  • the HPE FlexNetwork 5130 EI Switch Series FAQ (here), especially the 4th Question and the Service Functions section too.
