The compatible between 10G AND 1G
Can I stick an SFP transceiver module in a SFP+ port in a HP5500 for example if I need to connect a fast ethernet switch with a 1 Gbps SFP uplink port in Huawei S9300? I saw this Nexus's ports are 1/10 Gbps.
Does it depend on a switch module or is there a general rule, that they should be compatible?

Re: The compatible between 10G AND 1G
It will depend on the module, but most (NOT all though) 10G ports are backwards compatible to 1G. The 5500 for example are 1/10G all the way, for other switches or module refer to the documentation.

Re: The compatible between 10G AND 1G
How do one find out which models has this backward compatibility (other than buying a module and get disappointed)?
Is there a product matrix available somewhere which displays this?

Re: The compatible between 10G AND 1G
Hi Apachez,
I know the answer comes a bit late and you are proabably aware of this by now, but just for future reference, the supported transcievers are listed in the equipment's datasheet.

Pedro
