max number of vlan interfaces
Hi everyone!
I took a look at the FAQs f├╝r the 5130/5700/5900 switches and saw, that they only support up to 32 vlan interfaces. There are some customers, who have more than 32 ip subnets and I want to avoid running out of interfaces.
Is there an overview for the comware based switches, about how many vlan interfaces are supported per switch? (assuming 1 ip subnet per vlan)
Thanks in advance,
Chris

Re: max number of vlan interfaces
From a 2015 Japanese HP Networking Switch Catalog I was able to find:
- HPE 5130 EI Switch Series: 32 VLANs
- HPE 5500 HI Switch Series: 1024 VLANs
- HPE 5500 EI Switch Series: 1024 VLANs
- HPE 5700 Switch Series: 32 VLANs
- HPE 5800 Switch Series: 1024 VLANs
- HPE 5820 Switch Series: 1024 VLANs
- HPE 5830 Switch Series: 1024 VLANs
- HPE 5900 Switch Series: 1024 VLANs
- HPE 5930 Switch Series: 1024 VLANs
- HPE 7900 Switch Series: 4092 VLANs
- HPE 10500 Switch Series: 1024 VLANs
- HPE 12500E/12500 Switch Series: 4092 VLANs
- HPE 12900 Switch Series: 4092 VLANs
The catalog reports 1k and 4k and I think who wrote meant referring to 1024 and 4092 respectively.
I don't know if those values are really updated and/or accurate but, at least, is a first list to start with.

Re: max number of vlan interfaces
Hi Parnassus!
Yes, it's a first list to start with. But there must be another way to find the information.
Perhaps someone else can provide another source o information.

Re: max number of vlan interfaces
I agree with you.
That HP Networking Switch Catalog (2015, Japan) is the only one - AFAIK - I was able to find that group together all (Comware-/ProVision-based) Switch families showing, side-by-side, features and characteristics...OK...you will say that it is written in japanese but, you know, an acronym is an acronym also in japanese...so it is quite easy to recognize on a lists/tables (See tables starting from sheet 52 of 76) what you are looking for about VLAN limits (so the sentence "VLAN уВдуГ│уВ┐уГ╝уГХуВзуВдуВ╣ (IP уВвуГЙуГмуВ╣шинхоЪхПпшГ╜цХ░ )" means basically "VLAN interface (number of configurable IP addresses)").
OTOH if you have a look at HPE Networking Product Portfolio Guide (2016) you will not be able to find the information you're looking for (there are a lot less details). Japaneses love details.
