Hi,
is there a guide on how to migrate "fit" MSM 46x access points configured on a MSM 760 controller to a HP 870 Unified controller? The access points are in a branch office, and cannot find the HP 870 controller by broadcast.
Regards, Leonardo

SolutionLS1971,
Tricky one :)
To initially associate the MSM AP with a Unified controller accross L3 boundaries, you need to use either DHCP option 43 or DNS resolution as you would for any MSM AP. Once the MSM AP has aquired its new unified firmware, it reboots and then requires a different option 43 or DNS resolution to associate.
MSM Option 43
- Option Type : 01
- Option Length : 04 or 08 or 0C or 12
- AC IP Addresses in Hex : XX XX XX XX
Hence if your AC is 192.168.1.1, the option 43 would be 01040COA80101
MSM DNS
- CNSRV(1-5).domain
Unified Option 43
- Option Type : 80
- Option Length : 07 or 0B or 0F or 13
- Server Type : 00 00
- Number of Addresses : 01 or 02 or 03 or 04
- AC IP Addresses in Hex : XX XX XX XX
Hence if your AC is 192.168.1.1, the option 43 would be 800700COA80101
Unified DNS
- cmns(1-5).domain
and/or ...
- HPN.domain
depending on how new the Unified softare is.
Hope this helps,
Regards,
Pete

Hi Pete,
in which manuals can I find these options?
