HPE recognized as a leader by Gartner in new Magic Quadrant for Hyperconverged Infrastructure

bigstock-Game-Changer-99574364 (1).jpgI was thrilled to see HPE once again recognized by Gartner, this time identified as a leader in the new Hyperconverged Infrastructure category. It has only been one year since HPE acquired SimpliVity, and I am pleased with our accomplishments. We have helped customers like Red Bull Racing achieve both 4.5x performance gains and new levels of agility.  Western Tool and Supply has now reached new levels of agility and massive data efficiency gains of 10:1. The CIO at Tanner LLC is also experiencing simple, fast application and data recovery – recovering a 300 GB business critical app in 20 seconds with just 3 clicks.

The Hyperconverged SimpliVity platform is a key part of the HPE Software-Defined portfolio. Combined with HPE Synergy, the industry’s first and only composable infrastructure, and HPE OneSphere for multi-cloud management, we offer customers a no-compromises portfolio to simplify workloads, enhance DevOps, and accelerate the journey to hybrid cloud.

Because workloads and use cases are not monolithic, we designed HPE SimpliVity powered by Intel® for data center consolidation of traditional, virtual workloads and VDI. And, HPE Synergy, unique in the composable infrastructure category, is architected for physical and virtual workloads spanning traditional apps and new DevOps models for continuous delivery with rapid time to value. According to Gartner, “As the chart shows, from the year 2000 through today, there was only a gradual evolution in infrastructure optimization, from blade consolidation through converged infrastructure to the adoption of HCI as a hardware-based appliance like system. However, there was a marked upward tilt with the arrival of SDI. This is expected to accelerate with the advent of disaggregated, composable, intelligent fabric-based systems.1”  With approximately 3,000 SimpliVity customers and approaching 1,500 HPE Synergy customers – HPE is the fastest growing SDI provider.

We go beyond the data center to help customers simplify their hybrid cloud estate – both public and private clouds, on and off premises. In December we launched HPE OneSphere, enabling customers to build clouds, deploy apps, and gain insights faster across their hybrid-cloud estate. HPE OneSphere, an as-a-service multi-cloud management platform uniquely enables customers to transform SimpliVity into a true private cloud with a self-service developer portal, built-in catalogue for tools and services, and the analytics to enable IT to be a service provider – all within minutes. What differentiates OneSphere is its ability to simplify the entire infrastructure, not just HPE. Through a unified view, customers can see and compare costs across clouds with no “surprise OpEx.”

Talking with many customers across the globe, I frequently hear about the need for more flexible payment and IT consumption options. With HPE GreenLake Flex Capacity, HPE is the only HCI vendor with the capability to allow customers to only pay for what was used in one low monthly payment. In addition, GreenLake enables seamless technology upgrades so the HCI cluster will always be performing.

In selecting a partner for Hyperconverged deployment, consider these questions

  • Does the vendor offer a portfolio of Software-Defined Infrastructure to handle all workloads, including containers and bare metal?
  • Does the vendor offer a multi-cloud solution that enables the deployment of a private cloud in minutes and supports all infrastructure?
  • Does the solution offer flexible, pay-per-use consumption offerings?

For HPE, being a leader in the MQ is not enough. We are passionate about our mission to make hybrid IT simple for our customers and to partner with customers to improve their business outcomes. We are excited by what we have in store for the coming year.
