Putting the power of Big Data into the hands of everyone

Chris Purcell on ‎04-14-2014 02:23 PM

Whether your business is small, medium or large, now there’s a way you can reap the benefits of Big Data quickly and easily. Microsoft and HP have partnered together to deliver a pre-packaged turnkey Big Data solution for the modern Data Warehouse that is enterprise-class and is easy to buy, manage and support. What’s more, it scales easily as your data needs grow.

Convenient to deploy and use

The new HP ConvergedSystem platform for MS APS (Microsoft analytics platform system) will be purpose-built, factory-integrated and optimized for the data intensive workloads required for business intelligence (BI) applications. And it can be deployed in as few as 30 days from order to operation.

This system will integrates in-memory performance, massively parallel processing  data warehouse (MPP DW), and Hadoop all seamlessly in one appliance. Built in are two Microsoft tools that bring the worlds of relational and non-relational data together. Microsoft’s PolyBase allows you to query both structured and unstructured data. HDInsight brings a 100% Apache Hadoop solution to the data warehouse that is easily integrated into the new appliance or into the existing HP AppSystem for Microsoft SQL 2012 Parallel Data Warehouse appliance.

It will come with HP’s unique HP Support Pack Utility, which optimizes performance and simplifies management. And, as with other systems in the HP ConvergedSystem portfolio, there is one-stop support with HP so you don’t have to waste time figuring out whom to call when there’s a problem.

Far more cost-effective than legacy data warehouse solutions

This new system uses SQL Server 2014, which lets you build mission-critical applications and Big Data solutions using high-performance, in-memory technology across OLTP, data warehousing, business intelligence and analytics workloads without having to buy expensive add-ons or high-end appliances. SQL Server 2014 uses a common set of tools to deploy and manage databases both on-premises and in the cloud, which makes it easier for customers to take advantage of the cloud with existing skills.

Go with market leaders in BI, DW, servers and storage

If you’re a small or mid-size business, you may not have staff with knowledge about Big Data technology. You will want to go with the market leaders. And if you’re an enterprise business already using the Microsoft SQL Server 2012 PDW, you’ll be able to easily upgrade.

Microsoft is the recognized leader in the BI/DW market, and HP is the worldwide leader in servers and storage. They have a rich history of developing and successfully bringing Big Data and data warehousing solutions to a global market starting with the announcement of HP Enterprise Data Warehouse Appliance in 2010.  They have partnered together, so customers can be confident they are choosing a Big Data solution that is easy to order, deploy, use, manage and support.
