Migrating DP6.0 HP-UX 11.23 to Redhat Linux 5 CellMgr

Hello,

I've built a Redhat CM and I've copied DB40 from my HPUX 11.23 CM to the new Linux CM. All files are in place on the new CM and as a test I started omni.

Of course it failed (because DB40 was compiled on HPUX ???), but I get the following error message:

[root@prague sbin]# ./omnisv -start
Cannot start "rds" service, system error:
[1053] Unknown error 1053

If I ps -ef | grep omni

mmd,crs are running, just NO rds daemon.

Has anyone migrated from HPUX to Redhat LINUX 5 ??

There's a migrate script, but it migrates Linux to HPUX 11.23 (wrong way for me)lol.

The next thing I was going to try, was export the files from the live CM and copy/import on the Redhat Linux Server ???

What's best ?

Regards,
Nigel

There's no supported database migration path between UNIX and Linux, in either direction.

writedb/readdb has been tried, doesn't work fully. If you are moving the IDB between UNIX <-> Linux <-> Windows, it's a start all over and import tapes scenario. Within UNIX (HP-UX PA-RISC <-> HP-UX IA-64 <-> Solaris SPARC) the IDB moves just fine, in 6.x.

Thanks,
Scott
