hello ,
i have rx XTerminal connected to hp apollo 735
which is already configured but it logs me directly to the system without a log on screen
i mean without asking for login & password & then it displays the copy rights .
finally i got workspace (empty screen ) where i can not have a prompt .
by using the right button of the mouse i can have pop-down menu .
i have no previous experience on Xterminal ,is this behavior ok or there is something wrong .
any help is highly appreciated .
TIA
S.N.

I'm not v.familiar with the older 9.xx O/S but sounds like you are going directly into mwm as opposed to Vuewm :
so I'm guessing you are utilizing the /etc/.greetless file. If you put the hostname + username of
your xterminal in this file it will bypass the login display for that user. Ther users .xsession script will be run immediately. ???
In which case you could say its normal / workng as expected ?

Re: 700/rx Xterminal connected to hp apollo 735 with hpux 9.01
Sharif,
This is by no means the "default" behaviour. It sounds like your system administrator has customized the settings on that system to bypass the normal login and drop you straight into a "captive" environment (ie, no shell access). If you do not feel that this is your correct behaviour, you should probably speak with your system administrator.

I think, therefore I am... I think!
