CIFS High I/O Utilization.

We recenttly upgraded CIFS(samba) to vers. A01.06 and have noticed the Disk IO utilization increase dramatically. Has anyone run into this issue and if so are there any parameters which have to tweked. We are running it on a HPUX 11i service guarded platform. Also, are there any patches required?
Thanks.

Notes: PHCO_27958 ( 2 stars )

What's going on with your logs?

log file = /cifs/samba/log/%m.%u.log

What did testparms indicate?

And dos2ux /etc/opt/samba/smb.conf?

Also run "...sar -d 5 5..." and attach.

Re: CIFS High I/O Utilization.

Hi,

I'm not aware of any issues related to disk i/o on that version. Having said that A.01.06 is still a few versions behind - what version were you running previously as there may be some new parameters between the 2 revisions.

You should read this thread regarding security issues which will affect the version you are running:

Re: CIFS High I/O Utilization.

Hi,

What are the mount options for the filesystems that you are sharing out via Samba?
