Re: COPYUTIL
If you already have HPUX 11i installed on your server, why go backwards. Besides you can create a virtual media set anyway by using the ignite software. This is free and can be downloaded from here: http://www.software.hp.com/products/IUX/index.html It is also easy to use. You can create the image to a bootable tape.
To create an image to tape:
# /opt/ignite/bin/make_tape_recovery -x inc_entire=vg00 -I -v -a /dev/rmt/0mn (note the use of the rewind device)
There is further documentation on ignite which can be found here. In fact at docs.hp.com is where nearly all of the manuals can be found.

Re: COPYUTIL
copyutil was not designed for backing up data but for making copies of disks to tape. COPYUTIL only runs under ODE in an offline environment so take Micheals advice and use ignite you can download the latest version free from the thread here.

Re: COPYUTIL
I uses 10.20 on a old D250 abd some C3000.
I know that COPYUTIL have to know the SCSI disk you are using to make copy. It works on my D250 (old disks) not on my C3000 (newer ones).
Take advantages of Ignite.
I have used this soft. 2 weeks ago. You will have better results with IgniteUX.
You can make your system copy LIVE without system shutdown and ODE in the older method.
Have fun.
Bruno.
