Can't create Adaptive Server

Hello,
I'm installing Sybase 12.5 on HP-UX 11.0. When the system is creating the server, the screen show the next message:

Building master device...Task Failed
/usr/lib/dld.sl Unresolved symbol: __head (data) from /usr/lib/libC.2
/usr/lib/dld.sl Unresolved symbol: __shlinit (code) from /usr/lib/libCsup.2

I have install the recomended patch, but the error continue.

Best regards.

Re: Can't create Adaptive Server

I have read :

PROBLEM
You are getting the following errors when trying to startup Sybase database V.12.x after installing ANSI C++ Runtime library from patch newer than PHSS_16587.

-----------------------------------
" /usr/lib/dld.sl : Unresolved symbol: __head (data) from /usr/.lib/libC.2
" /usr/lib/dld.sl : Unresolved module for symblol : __shlinit (code) from /usr/lib/libCsup.2
-----------------------------------
RESOLUTION
Before the Sybase patch was available, the Sybase database had not been
relinked with a newer version of the ANSI C++ runtime library than the one
provided in PHSS_16587. Because of this, the library could not be updated
further than this patch level.

The solution is to apply Sybase ASE 12.0.0.3 ESD #2 or higher. This will relink
the Sybase v12 executable and enable the patch [PHSS_22543/PACHRDME/English] (or later version) to
be applied.

Did you install the Sybase patch or th HP-UX patch ? Current HP-UX patch is PHSS_24627. If you installed the HP-UX patch, did you see any error in swinstall.log ?

Regards,

Jean-Louis.
It works for me (┬й Bill McNAMARA ...)

Re: Can't create Adaptive Server

Hi Jean-Louis,

I review your information and resintalled the Sybase patch. Now all is OK. Maybe the problem was the order I installed the AnsiC and Sybase Patch.

Lots of thanks.
