Can't unmount an HP-UX CD

Hi all

Mounted an HP-UX CDROM in the drive. Realised that there were no depots on the CD, looks like the CD was created for Microsoft platform (lots of .msi files). Now I can't unmount it. Tried fuser but no joy. Is this because it is the wrong type of filesystem???
Please help!

Thanks

Mike

Hi,

Did you cd to a directory on the CD and still in this directory ?
Do cd / and then umount !

Re: Can't unmount an HP-UX CD

Hi,

what where the steps you took ?
mount --> ll or something else.

Might be some process that keeps the cdrom busy.

Re: Can't unmount an HP-UX CD

If it is an external CDROM or DVDROM, have you tried powering off the unit, powering it on, and immediately after powerup, hit the eject button?

Hope it helps

Re: Can't unmount an HP-UX CD

Mike,

get a copy of "lsof" from http://hpux.cs.utah.edu/hppd/hpux/Sysadmin/lsof-4.64/ and use it to determine if anyone has it "opened".

What was the error messaged you received? Did it say the device was "busy"?? If so, then something has either "cd"'d into the cd or has a file open.

What does "bdf" show for the mounted cd?

What was the command you used to mount the cd ??

Re: Can't unmount an HP-UX CD

# fuser -c /mount/point

will show you the process ID's of the processes that still have the CD open

Re: Can't unmount an HP-UX CD

Hi Mike,

I guess your "swagent" is still running - you used "swlist" onto that mount-point, didn't you?
Kill the "swagent" (not the "swagentd", though), and you should be fine...
