2 weeks ago one of our HP workstations reached an uptime of 1000 days.

Congratulations HP.

Th most I ever saw personally was 756 days on a H class quite a while back. This was ona system that was a production box as well.

This one being 712 workstattion .... what does it do?

It works as a Gateway (saprouter) to SAP.

My boss would say that the sysadmin guy is not working at all for last 1012 days!!
Is it under HP maintenance?

There's a rumour that HP's Mission Critcial Support Technical Account Managers keep a book on the uptime of their customers systems! Once a year each account manager brings in evidence of the best uptime values, and he collects the winnings....

probably apocryphal, but nice to think it might be true!
