Could not launch oracle 8.1.5 installation

I got this error when I try to start OUI:

Initializing Java Virtual Machine from /export/home/oracle/oracle815/oracleforsolaris/stage/Components/oracle/swd/jre/1.1.7/1/DataFiles/Expanded/jre//solaris/bin/jre. Please wait...
Error in CreateOUIProcess(): -1
: No such file or directory

Platform:
Solaris 8 for IA
on COMPAQ SP700 Dual XEON 550M 512RAM 18G HD

All environment variables have been set properly.


Any ideas?

Hi Steve,

Please check that you have installed Java SDK for Solaris 8.

Check the Solaris software download website.

A problem that I have had with the 8i versions was having too large of a path to the installation media. You might want to try shortening the path to the installation media and see if that resolves the problem.

HOw did you mount the cdrom?

ALso make sure u start the installer from oui/installer/runInstaller
