Creating a new Oracle Database..

Guys,
Does any knows what should i configure if i get this error. ORA-24323: value not allowed
ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel during starting of my oracle instance. In my situation this is my first time to install an oracle8i server in a solaris box, i did all the modification according to the oracle docs for Solaris such as the env & kernel parameters. but y do i still get this error... I already did an startup of an existing init parameter from another solaris box which both of the server i'm using have the same specs. Badly need your help on this guys..

did you try to google the error code ?

try: http://metalink.oracle.com
try: http://technet.oracle.com
try: http://my.oracle.com

look for "asktom" web-site.

Re: Creating a new Oracle Database..

Seems like the setting for the server tunables in the /etc/system file is incorrect which is why you're getting the ORA-24323 error.

Verify using the installation document that the values for shared memory and semaphores is set correctly.

cheers!

Re: Creating a new Oracle Database..

Hmmm, sounds like you have issues is solaris kernel params (probably around semaphors and shared-mem), Would it not be more productive to look for help ia solaris support group, or with Oracle support for Solaris? This is an HPUX forum.

Good luck,
Hein.
