Do Oracle 7 datafiles work with 8i?

If we are going to upgrade an Oracle 7.3.4 database to 8i - can we just use the same datafiles or do we need to perform some conversion to them?

You can use the same datafiles but you will have to use Oracle's migration tools to convert from 7.3.4 to 8.1.6.

You really need to consult Oracle's documentation.
