FAILURE TO CONNECT TO ORACLE APPLICATIONS FILE SERVER
After installing an additional cpu on our hp server L class 2000, our normal Oracle applications processing cannot see the output generated through the Application File Server. The output is generated correctly and is on the database server in the proper output directory, but viewing the output or log files from Oracle concurrent request form generates an error that indicates a TNS listner is not running or a network configuration problem has occurred. What could have been reset by installing the additional cpu? We know that the listener is running. What else can we check?

Re: FAILURE TO CONNECT TO ORACLE APPLICATIONS FILE SERVER
CPU shouldn't cause these problems. After rebooting something might have missed like default router or the interface that might have gone down.
1) Try pinging to the system physically and also through telnet from the app systems
2) Then check the listener at what IP it is listening to
3) Do a tnsping from the client to see if you are able to get to the listener from the client.

You may be disappointed if you fail, but you are doomed if you don't try

Re: FAILURE TO CONNECT TO ORACLE APPLICATIONS FILE SERVER
Hi Alana,
Adding a CPU should not have caused these errors. Is Oracle brought during system startup? You said the listener is running?
what is the status of "lsnrctl status " ?
Does "tnsping" return the status as OK?

Re: FAILURE TO CONNECT TO ORACLE APPLICATIONS FILE SERVER
Problem solved. Script file normally starts listener. It starts 2 listeners; 1. tst 2.APPS_tst. The command line that was typed to start the listener only start tst leaving out APPS_tst.
Thanks for the quick response.
