I saw alot of processes with 'ps -ef' so started killing things.
after 'kill -9 1' and that pesky process not dying I did 'init 1' and started killing more stuff.
I did notice that /usr was at 92%, so I moved /usr/lib to an external 2GB disk. About 1/2 way into the move the system just hung there.
Rebooting, I could not get a log in screen. I found some notes on booting to single user mode so that's what I did.
I could not mount any of my disks with wierd errors about libc.so.
Anyway, because init would not die with a kill -9, I renamed it to init.old.
Now I can not get the system even to boot into single user mode.
I tried to boot from net, but nothing happens. I know before the trouble started I had an internet connection.
What do I do?
Me!!!!11!!!!!!
This is a humerous post only, so feel free to add ;)

Re: HELP !!!!!1111!!!!!!
My guess is that your kill -9 on the init process has put it into a zombie state, which means that it's parent PID is 1. This means your init process is it's own parent, which puts it into the chicken/egg paradox loop. My suggestion is to try to contact it in the zombie state via your favorite psychic medium [mine is Miss Cleo] and tell it that it is really the child and to behave.

Re: HELP !!!!!1111!!!!!!
Here the one about the definition of chutzpah.
A man kills his mother and father, pleads mercy on the court 'cause he's an orphan.

Re: HELP !!!!!1111!!!!!!
As for the SuperDome, ask HP how to convert it to run Linux.

Re: HELP !!!!!1111!!!!!!
I always say that my system's just fine - I don't want to swap it for anything.
Cheers,

Re: HELP !!!!!1111!!!!!!
Seems like your disks have become 'dirty'
A good scrub down with lots of hot soapy water should do the trick.... don't worry about the strange noises it makes, just remember to rinse throroughly after your done!
Either that or litigation with HP for not posting large messages to the front of the superdome reading 'DO NOT TERMINATE THE INIT PROCESS'
Cheers!
