Hi,

This can be a patch issue too. The attachment won't be helpful in your case, as the server must be running on 64 bit OS. Check the latest Oracle patches for 11i in Oracle's metalink support page. Also make sure that you have the latest HP's patch bundle loaded.

Some thoughts ...

Re: HP-UX: 'Can't find library for -llibcl.a'

From the document you attached:

Solution Description
--------------------
This is due to the fact that you are installing Oracle 8i 8.1.6/8.1.7 64 bits
on a HP-UX 11.0 32 bits system.
Solution:
---------
The solution is to either install 32 bit Oracle or upgrade HP-UX 11 to 64 bit.
Explanation:
------------
To confirm that, do the following:
--
$ getconf KERNEL_BITS # -- check whether OS is 32/64 bits

What does getconf KERNEL_BITS return?

Did you install 11.11 (11i) in 64bit mode with a COLD INSTALL, or did you use an upgrade option?

do this, and it should return the following:

find / -type f -name libcl.a -exec ls -l {} \;

-r--r--r-- 1 bin bin 1443972 Nov 14 2000 /usr/lib/libcl.a
-r--r--r-- 1 bin bin 1820092 Nov 14 2000 /usr/lib/pa20_64/libcl.a

Re: HP-UX: 'Can't find library for -llibcl.a'

Hi again,

I install 11i from cold install.
The result of the command getconf KERNEL_BITS is 64.

And the result of the command find ... is:

-r--r--r-- 1 bin bin 1820092 Nov 14 2000 /usr/lib/pa20_64/libcl.a
-r--r--r-- 1 bin bin 1443972 Nov 14 2000 /usr/lib/libcl.a

Thanks in advanced

Re: HP-UX: 'Can't find library for -llibcl.a'

Can you try changing that Makfile to use -lcl instead of -llibcl.a? The linker will then search the default library path for libcl.sl and/or libcl.a
Enjoy, Have FUN! H.Merijn
