Help Pls, Oracle Backup to Tape ..

Hi friends,
we have two tape-drive one dds3 -> /dev/rmt/0m
and ultrium -> /dev/rmt/1m
dds3 is working. But when I try the following
tar cvf /dev/rmt/1m
tar: cannot open /dev/rmt/1m
Where should I look into the problem?
Previous I tried, and it was working.

Re: Help Pls, Oracle Backup to Tape ..

Hi,
The frist step U should use command
# ioscan -fnC tape

Then U find the state of your /dev/rmt/1mn. If that is
UNCLAIMED then U should know here is a HW problem.
If that tape is the new install, maybe U should install the correct driver in kernel.

BTW, check the tape in the tape drive, U can try change another tape.
good luck to U

Re: Help Pls, Oracle Backup to Tape ..

And verify that the tape is not write protected. It would give the same error
