Installing and configuring Oracle Application Suite under HP-UX environment
Dear All,
Our requirement is to configure the Oracle Application Suite R12 under HP-UX environment in a High available (HA) and Load balancing (LB) environment at DB Tier and App tier as well. We have only 2 server class machines. My precise questions are:
Q1. What solutions are available to achieve the HA and LB requirements at DB Tier and App tier? what are the requirments/pre-requisites (i.e. including hardware /software)?
Q2. if there is any solution, Can we implement the same on the existing 2 boxes?
Q3. if no to Q2, than what else (i.e. hardware /software)we required?
Last but not the least a million dollar question "Is it doable to configure the Oracle Application Suite R12 under HP-UX environment in a High available (HA) and Load balancing (LB) environment at DB and App tier"?
Thanks in advance.
Regards,

Re: Installing and configuring Oracle Application Suite under HP-UX environment
Shalom,
Q1-Serviceguard is the only supported HA solution for HP-UX. It does cost some money and support costs, but it works well with Oracle database and applications suite.
Q2-Yes. Also check into Oracle RAC if available it will run on the OS, but my understanding is its primary a database not an application server solution. It does negate the need to pay for and use Serviceguard.
Q3-Answer is yes. Serviceguard does require shared storage to be accessible by both nodes of the cluster. HP-UX servers purchased from HP are a requirement for this configuration.
Last Question: Yes. Doable. Not easy, but it can be done.
