Operating System Package for Oracle10g release2
Im installing Oracle Database 10g release 2, and after execute runInstaller, when checking the requirments, it shows the following message:
Checking Operating system package requirements
Check complete. The overall result of this check is: Not executed <<<< OUI-11108: Packages Information not specified.
What are the packages i have to install?
or there are any other problem?
Can anyone guide me how to fix the problem, please? thanks in advance

Re: Operating System Package for Oracle10g release2
Check the documentation at:
http://www.oracle.com/pls/db102/portal.portal_db?selected=1
Go to the Instalation Guide part and choose the apropriate guide for your OS. For HP-UX 64 bits PA_RISC:
http://download-uk.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/install.102/b19068/toc.htm

Re: Operating System Package for Oracle10g release2
I had faced similar probs when I was Installing Oracle10g(10.2).But I ignored the ERROR and continued.
Belive me Installation was successful.
For Oracle10g(10.2) u need at least
Dec'04 GOLDQPACK.

Re: Operating System Package for Oracle10g release2
did you go though the pre-install tasks?
For my Oracle 10g release 2 installation, i had downloaded and run the "Validate" scripts from Metalink!
With this tool, you will be able to identify which are the pre-requisits that are missing and what needs to be tuned for a proper installation.
if you have any difficulties in runing this script, please do let us know
kind regards

Re: Operating System Package for Oracle10g release2
The oracle installer process is designed to see a much older OS and a major installation Gold pack on top of it.
If you have a recent version of HP-UX some things Oracle looks for as add ins are included. Those messages you can skip.
Better though to open a tar with Oracle and ask them about the situation. After you get beyond the canned response stage and talk to someone with installation experience on HP-UX you will know whether its safe to proceed.
It is almost never a good idea to skip installation checks with Oracle and press on. It is okay after finding out exactly why the test has failed and having firm knowledge that the requirement is met though Oracle's installer isn't smart enough to figure it out.

Re: Operating System Package for Oracle10g release2
thanks for all replies
first of all, i want to say that im following a guide to install the Oracle10g and there are software requirements such as ac++ compiler, and gcc compiler that, i think, are for the installation of PL/SQL native compilation and more, and i want to install just the Oracle database, i have to install all the software requirements?
i want to say also that i have not installed the GOLDQPK, maybe thats the reason, i will try again, after install it
