Re: Oracle 11g installation error
This is a frequently reported problem according to Google.
You may want to check out Oracle specific forums for entries like:
http://cn.forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=1058107
The problem is likely to have to do with the network naming, or even path names.
Can the box ping itself properly, alias names in play? Try a static name (hosts)?
Did you try to continute the installation indicating 'ignore' after verifying that the requirements were in fact met anyway? And? ....
One of the Google returned matches is for the old forums13.itrc.hp.com threadId=1474873
Unfortunately this gets a nice but utterly useless redirect form to this new forums. :-(

Hein

Re: Oracle 11g installation error
Shalom,
$ whence kctune
/usr/sbin/kctune
kctune is normally available to all users in order to display the kernel parameters. Assuming this is an 11.31 or 11.23 system, which you are not indicating.
See that the user used to do the installation has access to /sur/sbin/kctune.
The ability to check the kernel parameters is a necessary step for the Oracle installation to succeed. Also insure that the correct media for your system is being used.

What does "swapinfo -tam" show for your swap?

Thanks, but I knew how to find that because this particular user made a unique misspelling 'phycal'.
Trivial. I should have mentioned that.
Now try that with a more typical subject line of 'problem with script', or 'oracle install issue'
Search in the new forums did NOT find 'PRVF-7531'

Re: Oracle 11g installation error
You can translate any old forums.itrc.hp.com...threadId=12345 by a little search in the new one.
1. search google using forums11.itrc.hp.com threadId=12345 (at least for hpux "forums11" delivers the best results until now)
2. If exist klick the link for "show more results from ...."
3. Check the hits for you link
4. Switch to the subforum where your thread belongs to
5. Enter (case sensitiv) the found title char by char and wait for suggestions
6. check the found thread against Google cache

Re: Oracle 11g installation error
Hi:
Forgive me for taking this thread off-topic, but this irks me:
@Stephan. wrote:You can translate any old forums.itrc.hp.com...threadId=12345 by a little search in the new one. ...
This is an effort in despairation that could have been avoided had HP mapped the old ITRC URL to the new HPSC URL *during the migration*. At the very least, a static table (document) listing the old and new URLs would have allowed manual lookups. This kind of thinking was offered by serveral of us, apparently to no avail. Why would that have been so difficult, HP?

Re: Oracle 11g installation error
I can only fully agree that it could and should have been done, but in the current situation my best idea is to share what I found while searching old threads to help others that are in the same situation.
Complaining about things in the past does not help anyone.
My 2 cents,
Stephan
