Oracle 8.1.6 on HP-UX B.11.00 64-bits

Hi,

I try to install Oracle 8.1.6 on HP 9000/L2000 server with HP-UX b.11.00. When begin to install oracle,it has error message like
" Error in Writing to file
/opt/oracle/product/8.1.6/network/lib/libnldapj8.sl"

The error message in shell window like attached file.

I installed this version of Oracle on C3600 (HP-UX b.11.00 32-bits) successfully.

Is this the problem that I must use 32-bits OS ? Are their any patch for this problem ?

Hi,

As far as I know,

32-bit Oracle 8.1.6 runs on both HP-UX 11.00 32-bit and HP-UX 11.00 64-bit.
64-bit Oracle 8.1.6 runs on HP-UX 11.00 64-bit only.

Thus, you cannot run 64-bit Oracle 8.1.6 on HP-UX 11.00 32-bit.

That means the Oracle 8.1.6 I used is a 32 bit version.But why I have problem to install it on HP-UX b.11.00 64_bit system ?
Please see the error message attached to my last message.

Hi

Do not know which patch but seems like there are som things failing in your install, possibly the java part of it.

Just make sure you have alle the required patches in place befor you start, according to the release note.

HEllo,

looks like an no-space-on-device error, really.
Remember that Oracle 8.1.6 needs more than 1GB of space, depending on your choices...

And since you need some Oracle-patches, too, do not try installing Oracle with less that 1.5GB of space ofr $ORACLE_BASE!

Hi all,

Thank you for your help.
Because I have install almost all patches (except PHSS_18066 and PHSS_19178),the error is still here. I think may be it is the problem of SWAP or STANDARD VLM. Below is the error message cut from .log file.

The error should be "IOException2". Could you help me to confirm the error point ?
