Oracle 8.1.7 installatllation on HP-UX 11.00

Hi Friends,

I am facing some problem while instatalling Oracle 8.1.7 On HP-UX 11.0. During installation it gives error mesg. like:

(a) Errors in invoking target install of Makefile
e.g., .../../rdbms/lib/ins_rdbms.mk

After completing the installation it gives error mesg. on "Database configuration assistant" that there was some error during installation. On selecting it, it says to check "/java/thread" or "/java/lang/thread".

Can you pl. help me out on how to install the oracle successfully?? Any additional patch needs to be installed? Any other Kernel Parameters to be changed? etc.

Also, the command that I can use to check whether the database has been installed properly?

Increase the maxdsiz kernel parameter from the 64MB default to 2GB.

Thanks for your hints. Just a quick question, do I need to set the "java" path as the default or let it be the same?

Also, will it resolve all the issues mentioned?

Have you install the OS patches which required by Oracle? You can refer to http://metalink.oracle.com to solving this problem.

Yes, I've installed the latest patches but if there's any specific patch I must take into consideration, then let me know.

Yes, the list is useful. I am looking into this. Also, when trying to register at metalink, it's asking for "Support Identifier" which is not available with me.
