Oracle 9i R1 logical standby DB server

Hi all,

Now we are using Oracle 9.0.1.4 RAC with 2 instances. And we also have a standby DB. But this standby db can't be open for read only. Once we open standby db, it will not be a standby DB anymore. But I heard Oracle 9i can be config a logical standby with read only mode. In other words, this standby can always be sync with primary DB and also can be read only. Does it work? How can I do?

Thanks

FJ

Hi,
have a look at metalink:
DocID:274170.1
That should start you off in the right direction.

I think the command is:
ALTER DATABASE GUARD [NONE|STANDBY|ALL]

hi FJ,

also have a look at the Oracle documentations at url:
http://download-west.oracle.com/docs/cd/B10501_01/server.920/a96653/create_ls.htm#1073769

and also this great presentation:

hope this helps too!
