Oracle Application Server 10g on HP-UX11.11(PA-Risc,64bit)

Hi
I have successfully installed Oracle Application Server 10g on HP-UX11.11.
There remains a unresolved problem.
Starting opmnctl with a /etc/resolv.conf present lasts about 10 times longer as when there is no resolv.conf available.
I have tried all kind of stuff with /etc/nsswitch.conf but the different timescale behaviour remains.
Any idea or even any suggestions for remedy.
Any help greatly appreciated.
Best regards Franz H.

Try increasing the logging level in ipm.log.

I could be all wrong, but it would seem to me that if you had it check /etc/hosts first in nsswitch.conf, then name resolution would be the same as if resolv.conf wasn't there. If you have tried that, wouldn't you then have to conclude that 10g doesn't pay attention to nsswitch.conf (directly or indirectly). So, then the question is how does 10g figure the order to do name resolution? Maybe they have their own file or environment variable? How does nslookup behave with different nsswitch.conf settings? Of course, 10g might not be using nslookup.

Prior posts are good.

Most likely cause based on our experience is slow response of the servers in /etc/resolv.conf

we have not had this problem.

Thanks all of you
The problem persists and the reason for it is still not found.
One thing is very clear: The nameserver-response is fast for all stuff except for OracleAS10g.
I cannot answer the question whether oracle uses its own way of resolving addresses.
I'll open a new metalink tar concerning this question
