Oracle and Service Guard

Wich is the difference between one system with Service Guard, and Oracle whitout Real Application Clusters and a system with Service Guard, Oracle and Real Application Clusters?

There are two different cluster environments, MC/SG's and RAC's. RAC's cluster sits atop the SG cluster. MC/SG controls the O/S and RAC load balances transactions over the network.

Without RAC, if Oracle fail or the node where Oracle resides stop, the other node continues working with Oracle?

Without RAC, the Oracle instance can only be active on one node in the cluster at any one time. If the instance or the node fails, Service Guard will automatically fail the Oracle package over on to one of the other nodes in the cluster, running the configured Oracle start scripts to bring up the instance.

Applications would then need to reconnect to the database once the package is back up and running.

Without RAC, failover can take some time as all the pending transactions have to be rolled forward or back based on an integrity check. With a large number of transactions, this can take as long as a 1/2 hour.
