Oracle and file cache
Hi,
Has anyone seen any recommendations about file cache size for HP-UX and Oracle 8. Is there any document from HP avialable.

Re: Oracle and file cache
hi,
u may like to view the Metalink Doc for 8.0.x installation requirements:
http://metalink.oracle.com/metalink/plsql/ml2_documents.showDocument?p_database_id=NOT&p_id=108381.1
if you have no access to Metalink, see attachment.
regards.

Re: Oracle and file cache
Assuming from the question you are using the file system as oppose to raw access, you might want to consider OnlineJFS and the appropriate mount options (mincache=direct), and thus avoid the double buffering by Oracle and the buffer cache. See attached.

Re: Oracle and file cache
Leif,
I am assuming you are talking about the dbc_min_pct and dbc_max_pct. Normally we keep max in the 5-7 range, and the min in the 3-5 range.
Thanks,
Brian
