Oracle db

Is it possible to install an oracle 9i on a HP server with an existing oracle 7.3.4 version. Will my old version gets affected with the new one. Do I have to configure something on oracle 9i?

Regards
Maye

Re: Oracle db

What's is the OS version and hardware type(32/64 bits)?
If I am correct
7.x doesn't work on 11.x
And also 9i doesn't work on 10.x

Re: Oracle db

hi Maye,

this is possible, as long as you use different ORACLE_HOME and path for your datafiles.

Re: Oracle db

Yes, it is possible. I have Oracle 9i, 10g installed on the same server. Please be aware the PATH,ORACLE_BASE(HOME,SID),
and LD_LIBRARY_PATH environment variables were updated when you switch between the database instance.

Thank you,
