Oracle installer setings
Hi all:
Once again at night. We are trying to update from 8.1.7 to 8.1.7.2.
The original $ORACLE_HOME was /usr/oracle817. Now we have set to /usr/oracle8/8.1.7. So we had a ln -s /usr/oracle8 /usr/oracle817.
We like to remove references to /usr/oracle817 but we dont find which file contains this data.
Thanks

Re: Oracle installer setings
Try /var/opt/oracle/oraInventory. This file should have the location of the original Oracle install. Just change it. Hope this helps.

MOVING ORACLE_HOME
==================
*******************************************************************************
NOTE: There is no straightforward way to change ORACLE_HOME on 8.1.x and still
be able to apply patches or make changes with the Installer. The
location of the ORACLE_HOME is stored in binaries under oraInventory,
and there is no way to change these without reinstalling. The bottom
line, for 8.1.x, is that ORACLE_HOME should only be changed by
reinstalling.
