Oracle licenses products

Hello All,

Where do I find a list of what is an extra license cost. At first I useto think when you installed the Enterprise edition you would be able to move the cursor over top the option and it would tell you. But our sales rep tells us partitioning is extra but during the install it doesn't tell me that it is. Our manager has been waiting for a week now to hear back from the sales rep. I've been waiting for over a week from metalink for a list and nothing. So is there a list out there somewhere?

Thanks

Re: Oracle licenses products

Time to get yourself a new salesrep....in my experience pretty much all Oracle pricing is negotiable...

Re: Oracle licenses products

I know but I need a list to take to my manager. Since we no longer can trust the sales rep I need something documented somewhere.

Re: Oracle licenses products

Your rep will help.

Currently they offer most customers a 25% discount off list.

Unlimited users on the database server lists for $20,000 per CPU

Doesn't matter how powerful the CPU is.

Re: Oracle licenses products

I'm more concerned with what is an extra cost. For example I thought partitioning was included in the normal Enterprise Edition Server license. During install it didn't say it was an extra license like it says for Advance Security or Spatial or one of the others. Then I found it from the rep that it was. $160k later my manager wasn't too happy. I don't even know if the object oriented feature is extra.

Re: Oracle licenses products

Hi Brian

I've never managed to find a published list of what is included and what is extra to the enterprise edition. I believe the following options are extras to the EE license, and are charged per user or as a percentage of the per server license cost:

Real Application Clusters
Partitioning
OLAP
Spatial
Advanced Security
Diagnostics Pack
Tuning Pack
Change Management Pack

Best to check with your oracle account manager - but I hope this helps!

Ever considered to switch to the successor of SAPDB -> MaxDB ?

Re: Oracle licenses products

Of course. I got my last company to switch to Red Hat Linux instead of hp-ux. But can't seem to get them to switch off of oracle.

OUCH - Brian - that stung!
Remember where you are......

I sure hope you got it from HP so you're indemnified from that hideous SCO lawsuit =^))

Re: Oracle licenses products

Hehe, don't get me wrong hp, aix, solaris and very stable Operating Systems. But I just can't stand how they rape you on the prices of the hardware. As far as SCO, they can't make any money unless they sue someone.
