Oracle problem after pushing software with Ignite 4.1.62

Finally pushed an ignite image including oracle server 8.1.7.4.0 from a working server to an Ignite client.

We relinked oracle.

We get a hang when we run utlrp.sql

No errors, to nothing. The database does not hang, and can be brought down or up. We need to run this utility as part of change word size from 32 to 64 bit(previously I posted this procedure).

Question: Anyone have problems with Oracle after pushing the the software with Ignite.

Any similar experience, stories, workarounds.

Stories and experience are worth 5-7 points. Workarounds get you a rabbit.

Found this on metalink. Involved a 9i upgrade, but it may lead to a resolution for ya.

utlrp.sql script hangs

Hi

I have migrated (running the u*.sql) the database from 8.1.7.2.5. to 9i. After migration, I saw few pl/sql objects and java classes as INVALID. So, I started off running utlrp.sql script. Its 4 hours and still running. The CPU shows 50% usage and memmry also shows some significant usage.

Any reason why? Running the script as SYS connected as SYSDBA

The database size is 400MB

Thanks and Regards

Som Vembar

Just curious as we run the script all the time in 8i and previously in 8.0. -- Mark --

This problem is reported in an internal bug 2120478. Development agreed in enhancement request 1810131 that a parallel version of this script needs to be made available. From 1810131,

"The new file is called utlrcmp.sql--contains a utility package that supports parallel recompilation of invalid database objects (typically, for objects invalidated after a database upgrade)."

You can request the script through the iTAR process if necessary.

Looks like utlrcmp.sql is included in patch 1888560

Re: Oracle problem after pushing software with Ignite 4.1.62

This issue is closed.

As usual, Oracle support was just trying to deny us support. Let me make it clear, Oracle uses Ignite to back up their test HP-UX servers, they even use it to deploy software to multiple machines. Never admit to Oracle support that Ignite was involved, because they will probably read the party line, which is we only support fresh installs.

The problem was fixed by increasing redo space and implementing a few procedures noted in a problem with 64 bit Oracle databases hanging.

An oracle procedure that I've been posting to the forums will be revised and reposted when our dba is done marking up the document.

Thanks a bunch.
