Printer issue
we see the job leaving into the UNIX queue. We then see the Unix queue emptying. I see packets arriving on the print server by looking at the web console but the bits and bytes don't come out on to the paper.
Where to check? How the print is going?
Pl suggest?
Thanks.

Re: Printer issue
can you stop the print queue in question on the print server and then check if the jobs are piling up there? In particular, check if their size is >0 on arrival.
regards,
John K.

Re: Printer issue
what kind of printserver is it and how is the printer defined. Have you tried a ftp directly to the printer?
greetings,
Michael

Re: Printer issue
you mean that you can actually see the job on the print server with a size >0?
If you enable the printer, what happens with the printer job?
regards,
John K.

Re: Printer issue
while printing do you see anything on the printer display?
what type of printer?
how connected? LANbox (which?) or network?

Thierry.

Re: Printer issue
it sounds to me as a printer server issue. Can you print to the printer in question from somewhere else and does the job appear likewise in the printer queue on the print server?
regards,
John K.

Re: Printer issue
If the printer has an IP address, you could use jetadmin / hppi and configure direct printing. ( use another printer name if you want to just test the printer,) but if it works, it could be your solution.
