Problem with Oracle Patch install

While installing Oracle patch 4719658 yesterday our DBA recieved the error sh: 17742 Memory fault(coredump) and the patch install failed. Has anyone seen this before? If so, can you give me any insight into what caused the issue?

Re: Problem with Oracle Patch install

hi,

did you go through the readme?

There are prerequisites for this:

Please check Oracle Metalink to determine if any of these have been superseded

4038964 - Minipack 11i.AD.I.1
2864765 - TXK Advanced Utilities Rollup A (October 2004)
3882116 - REHOST ORACLE 9iR2 JDBC DRIVERS (v9.2.0.5) FOR USE WITH ORACLE
APPLICATIONS 11i
3594604 - TXK AUTOCONFIG TEMPLATE ROLLUP PATCH I (October 2004)

hope this helps!

Re: Problem with Oracle Patch install

Hi Jeffrey,

as Yogeeraj mentioned above,Oracle patch 4719658 requires the following prerequisite patches to have been successfully applied to your system before it can be applied:

Patch 3262159 - 11i.FND.H
Patch 4038964 - Minipack 11i.AD.I.1
Patch 2864765 - TXK Advanced Utilities Rollup A (October 2004)
Patch 3882116 - REHOST ORACLE 9iR2 JDBC DRIVERS (v9.2.0.5) FOR USE WITH ORACLE
APPLICATIONS 11i
Patch 3594604 - TXK AUTOCONFIG TEMPLATE ROLLUP PATCH I (October 2004)

If you had performed the pre-requistes then may be the error is occurring during relinking the executables. Check your paths and environment variables. Because during any Oracle installation on an HP-UX system, the Oracle Installer (orainst) attempts to relink the product executables.
