TCP port numbers

We are remotly supporting Omniback via a firewall. We can connect to the server ok with either an X termnial session or a CDE session but when we try to run the "xomni" command we dont get the omni management session come up. The processes are started on the server ok.
I think it is that the firewall is stopping certain TCP port numbers coming through that Omniback uses.
Does anyone know what port numbers are used for the GUI interface or point me in the direction of documentation that might assist me in finding the TCP port numbers.

Many thanks, Graeme.

Re: TCP port numbers

Cell manager process uses port 5555 plus others dynamically assigned based on the OB2PORTRANGE on the cell manager.

Re: TCP port numbers

Hi,
I don't use xomni trough a fire wall, but I do backup trough it, and to make it work, I had to open port higher than 45000 don't tell me why, it's just experimentation !!! But it works.

Hope it may help

Re: TCP port numbers

X windows uses 6000

You must let them through or you won't get your lovely X windows.

PS: that's what the :0 is in your DISPLAY variable.

:1 is port 6001 etc..
