Getting HPUX ERROR: 32: Broken Pipe
TNS-00517 [lost contact]

Does anyone know what this means

Hi,

bash-2.04$ ./oerr tns 517
00517, 00000, "Lost contact"
// *Cause: Partner has unexpectedly gone away.
// *Action: Investigate partner application for abnormal termination.

Check your network connectivity between your sqlnet client and your Oracle server. Your sqlnet client is likely to have disconnected abruptly (not quit cleanly) eg. PC hang or routing failure are possible causes.
