Timeout Error - Oracle Forms 10g
We have an application developed via Oracle Forms 10g(Web based application), we would like to implement timeout feature for the application(if the application is idle for a long time). In general, we have a time out message - FRM 92102. We would like to capture this message and change it to a message of our desired choice.
Is there a way to capture this message and implement to a one of our choice.
Regards,
Balaji A.

I believe the best course of action is to mererly update your user doc and let people know what FRM 92102 means.
If you really want to change the message, the message text sits in an oracle database table. As to what the name of the table is or where it is, I don't know the oracle 10g documentation should provide this information.
You may find its best to do a database activity time out on the underlying oracle database. The table that contains that error might be easier to find and alter.
You may have to write an Oracle SAR to get the information if they consider it to be proprietary.

Re: Timeout Error - Oracle Forms 10g
Thanks for the reply, we did raise a TAR with the Oracle Forms but the solution they provided was related to implementating a java bean which was not feasible one.
We are exploring the database tables name. Could you let me know if there are any specific database table name which would contain these errors..

Re: Timeout Error - Oracle Forms 10g
You have to create an ON-ERROR trigger at the form level and capture the "ORA-..." message...

Re: Timeout Error - Oracle Forms 10g
We have been encountering this message from quite some time too.
Quite difficult to fix it but we have manage to reduce the number of occurrences.
Have a look at metalink note: 269884.1
How To Fix The Forms Timeout Issue In Oracle Applications 11i
and also if you have enough memory, try to increase the number of default_islands in your OC4J_BI_Forms instance
hope this helps!
kind regards

Re: Timeout Error - Oracle Forms 10g
It is not that we would like to remove this error message; we would like to capture this error message and change it to a text of desired one.

Re: Timeout Error - Oracle Forms 10g
As I said in my previous post, you have to create an ON-ERROR trigger at the form level and capture the "FRM-..." error message (not the "ORA-..." message).
This ON-ERROR trigger would be something like this:
IF ERROR_CODE = 'FRM-92102' THEN
...
END IF;

Re: Timeout Error - Oracle Forms 10g
IF ERROR_CODE = 'FRM-92102' THEN
message('...YOUR MESSAGE...',w_user_response);
or
SHOW_ALERT(alert_id);
ELSE
execute_trigger('ON-ERROR');
END IF;

Re: Timeout Error - Oracle Forms 10g
We tried the above option of setting a on_error trigger and capturing it but no luck - after 10 minutes of inactivity on the application we still get the generic FRM-92102 or FRM-92101.
Any further idea or suggestions on this.

Re: Timeout Error - Oracle Forms 10g
'FRM-92102' does not necessarily have an ORA error associated with it. If you go through the metalink note i have mentioned. You will find that there are numerous ways of getting this error.
For instance, one frequent error we get here is related to network issues over WAN.
On one of our metalink SRs concerning this same issue, we were advise to increase the number of default islands amongst others.
You may also wish to review the default values in your Apache configuration.
hope this helps!
kind regards
