Upgrade from 8.1.6 to 8.1.7 problems
Hello,
During the upgrade of a database from 8.1.6 to 8.1.7 using the u080106 upgrade script, one instance hangs (freeze). All the others have passed the upgrade; but just one freezes during the process.
Have you got any idea?
Regards
J??r??me

Re: Upgrade from 8.1.6 to 8.1.7 problems
Any specific differences to the way the databases were installed / built?
Any warning messages as part of the upgrade / compile? Anything on dmesg, or top?
What does Oracle On The Net say in its forums? Is this a SAP Oracle Upgrade?
Pse provide more information.
Share and Enjoy! Ian

At what step is is freezing?
I would start by puting a few comments in the sql and see where is is hanging...
My guessese are locked files, an invalid package that system mighte expect to be there for the upgrade.
You could manually re-create the system stuff with catalog and then try re-running the conversion scripts.

Re: Upgrade from 8.1.6 to 8.1.7 problems
I you are upgrading a designer instance, you have to go through the designer migration process. Upgrading the database software will leave designer unable to funciton.
I got a similar freeze because I was tyring to migrate designer db with export import. That methodology is not supported by Oracle. More important than that, it won't work.
Do makes sure your system is properly patched and java is either v 1.2 or 1.3 as 1.4 is not supported by Oracle.
You probably know all of this. If you need specifics, reply I'll put them together for you.
