Upgrade from Oracle 8.1.7.0 to 8.1.7.4

Hi,

I'm going to install 8.1.7.4 Oracle patch on HP-UX 11i. Do I need to apply for successful intallation any unix patches ?

According to the Oracle site
http://download-west.oracle.com/docs/pdf/A87478_02.pdf there are no new patches necessary from Release 3 to Release 4.

System requirements (kernel paramaters, os level, memory and patches) are part of the release notes found in the documentation section of http://otn.oracle.com/documentation/oracle8i.html

I have not applied any OS patches during the release level upgrade.Mostly only a version level upgrade would require.

It is not required.

hi,

as long as you already have installed the required patches for 8.1.7.0, it should be okay to install that patchset 8.1.7.4.

i.e.
PHSS_21947 (ld(1) and linker tools cumulative patch)
PHNE_20316 (Cumulative STREAMS Patch)
PHKL_21392 (VxFS performance, hang, icache DPFs)
PHKL_22145 (signal, threads, spinlock, scheduler, IDS)
PHKL_22266 (LVM Cumulative Patch)
