Use archive log in Oracle 8.1.6 on HP-Ux11.00??

Hi all!

I have problem with the archive log in oracle, I have run the commands that oracle specifies to enable it. ALTER...
I tries to enable it in the initSID.ora file to activate auto start of it...

But when I tries to start the db again then I only get an error message "ORA-00439" and the db wont start, and when I change back it works again.

It is no problems to start archive log manually after the startup of the db...

Would be greatful if anyone nows a solution to the problem...

svrmgr>startup mount

shutdown the database cleanly using
shutdown
or
shutdown immediate
and use startup mount do not open the database

now
svrmgr>
alter database archivelog

svrmgr>alter database open

No, doesn't work, we tried that already and then we get the error message ORA-00439.
