LVM is basically an HP-only volume manager whereas Veritas VxVM has cross-platform support which makes it more flexible for multi unix OS supporting shops. It also has a more extensive set of functions compared to LVM.

I or anyone else will not sit down and write the step-by-step instructions doing this or that on VxVM but this should not be a problem as VxVM cheat sheets are plenty arond the web.
