Hi,

I assume, you have a HU-UX machine? If you have a graphics console, you dont need a x-windows server, which by the way would have to run on your pc. Set the DISPLAY variable, mount the CDROM and run the installer programme.

You can download and install the trail version of Xmanager software on Windows from,
http://www.netsarang.com/

But if you have a graphics console (monitor) connected to the hp-ux box you dont need to rely on windows or other UNIX boxes to run runInstaller.

On windows systems you can install "cygwin"
http://www.cygwin.com
Cygwin is a Linux-like environment for Windows, you can install XFree86 - Package and run an Xserver without any cost.

I hope, we can install vnc server version

Please give the free ( trail version )

Re: What are X-windows softwares for Installing Oracle server from CD

Hi,

please understand this:
The xwindows server is not running on your unix box but on your pc. In order to minimize the network traffic by not transfering every mask as bit map, a xserver on the pc functions as "drawing help". For example, the unix says, I waht a text with this font and size at position x,y. The pc draws it there without having to get all the pixels of that text. So your pc is the server and the unix box the client and unless you have a graphic terminal at your unix box, it wont do you any good. So get a xserver for your windows box.
