What is UNIX 11i? and is it yet certified with Oracle 8i?

Our UNIX SysAdmin has informed me of a new HP-UX operating system version 11i. Is there a real version number like 11.11? When will it be certified with Oracle 8i products? Will it run on N, T and K class servers?

Hi there.
HP-UX 11i will be thrown on the market by midth of next year.
There is no Oracle certification for it yet.
It will be the OS for HP-UX going Internet with some fancies supported like Apache or so.
That is the latest news i heard from HP support in Germany.

Hi Pascale,

HP-UX11i is, for now, only available for SuperDome.
You'll have to wait for a few more months (approx mid-2001) to use it.
There's no Oracle certification yet, as far as I know.

I'd love to know where everyone gets there information from. If you want to know about 11i, why not speak to you friendly HP account manager?

11i is available. I have had 10 servers delivered in January, all with 11i pre-installed. Oracle (at least according to my DBAs) is also supported.

There HAS been a shipment hold recently, but that is due to be released on Friday 2nd Feb. However, as I say 11i is orderable now - not mid year.

My Account Support Engineer was on-site 2 weeks ago and we began talking about installing 11.11. He had it in his brief case. I believe it is General Availability now.

FYI,
I just saw this on the ITRC:

"The Software Application Release 12/00 and 11i Operating System Release are currently on hold due to order-creation problems. We're targeting a shipment date of January 29. We will notify you of any changes.

Hewlett-Packard regrets the delay in shipments and appreciates your patience."

Since we are past January 29 you would expect that 11.1 is available.
