Re: What is the Fibre Driver on a K machine (HP-UX 11.0)?

From a K580; Heres the driver and software for a fibre conection to a disk storage device (EMC/HP/HDS);

ioscan -fkCfcp

Class I H/W Path Driver S/W State H/W Type Description
=======================================================================
fcp 1 8/12/1/0.1 fcp CLAIMED INTERFACE FCP Domain
fcp 0 10/8/1/0.1 fcp CLAIMED INTERFACE FCP Domain
fcp 2 10/8/1/0.3 fcp CLAIMED INTERFACE FCP Domain

swlist;

J3630BA B.10.20.61 Fibre Channel Mass Storage Driver
A6685A B.10.20.01 HSC Tachyon TL Fibre Channel
(This is for 10.20, same product id A6685A for 11.0)

And heres a fibre Ggiabit lan connection;

Class I H/W Path Driver S/W State H/W Type Description
=====================================================================
lan 1 8/4/1/0 gelan CLAIMED INTERFACE HP A4924A HSC 1000Base-SX Adapter
/dev/gelan1

And the driver for the fibre gigabit;

J1642AA B.10.20.11 HP PCI/HSC Gigabit Ethernet Driver
(for 10.20, same product J1642AA for 11).

Re: What is the Fibre Driver on a K machine (HP-UX 11.0)?

I left out the body of the quetion.

Our EMC people have requested that we upgrade our Fibre Driver on our HP servers.

On an N4000 it looks like this:

# swlist | grep A5158A
A5158A B.11.00.05 HP PCI Tachyon TL Fibre Channel

(They want us to upgrade to B.11.00.10.)

On a K, there is no A5158A driver? What product do I download on a K?

The cards are at 8/8 and 14/8 and look like this:

fc 0 8/8 fcT1 CLAIMED INTERFACE HP Fibre Channel Mass Storage
Adapter
lan 7 8/8.5 fcT1_cntl CLAIMED INTERFACE HP Fibre Channel Mass Storage
Cntl
/dev/fcms7
fcp 0 8/8.8 fcp CLAIMED INTERFACE FCP Protocol Adapter
ext_bus 2 8/8.8.0.18.0 fcparray CLAIMED INTERFACE FCP Array Interface
target 2 8/8.8.0.18.0.0 tgt CLAIMED DEVICE
disk 221 8/8.8.0.18.0.0.0 sdisk CLAIMED DEVICE EMC SYMMETRIX
/dev/dsk/c2t0d0 /dev/rdsk/c2t0d0

On my K class we have:
A6685A B.11.00.10 HSC Fibre Channel

Re: What is the Fibre Driver on a K machine (HP-UX 11.0)?

On a K class a fibre channel mass storage device is product id A6685A (HSC). We use them on K's connected to EMC brocade switches (loop mode).

The software matches it (as in my previous reply). You can download the latest version from the latest 11.0 Apps CD's - this is what I think they want you to install.

Re: What is the Fibre Driver on a K machine (HP-UX 11.0)?

Hi,
on my K:

FC-TACHYON-TL B.11.00.10 PCI Tachyon TL/TS/XL2 Fibre Channel
FCMassStorage B.11.00 Fibre Channel Mass Storage
HSCFibreCh B.11.00 Fibre Channel/9000 Product

The driver were loaded from the CE when installed the card.

They are downloadable as a patch, i think, since you have already the driver. Check with the latest tachion patch, they should be

s700_800 11.00 Fibre Channel Mass Storage Driver Patch (PHKL_23939)

Massimo

Stefan:

Neither my ioscan nor my swlist looks like yours. I don't have those products.

Re: What is the Fibre Driver on a K machine (HP-UX 11.0)?

Here is my swlist (- comments):

It may be that I have my FC cards in GSC slots, which take different software.

I do have the patch, mentioned above, and also need to update that.

Re: What is the Fibre Driver on a K machine (HP-UX 11.0)?

Hi Stuart,

I believe the only other possibility is an HSC fibre channel card A3404A. These cards cannot plug into a switch - they must go direct connect to an EMC. We still use a few;

fc 1 10/8 fcT1 CLAIMED INTERFACE HP Fibre Channel Mass Storage
Adapter
lan 3 10/8.5 fcT1_cntl CLAIMED INTERFACE HP Fibre Channel Mass Storage
Cntl
/dev/fcms3
fcp 0 10/8.8 fcp CLAIMED INTERFACE FCP Protocol Adapter
ext_bus 9 10/8.8.0.13.0 fcparray CLAIMED INTERFACE FCP Array Interface
target 10 10/8.8.0.13.0.0 tgt CLAIMED DEVICE
disk 41 10/8.8.0.13.0.0.0 sdisk CLAIMED DEVICE EMC SYMMETRIX

I think this is yours. These are old cards. The drivers though are the same (from an 11.0 K server of ours);

A6685A B.11.00.08 HSC Fibre Channel

I made a mistake in my last post. The A6685A is fabric mode, not loop. These old direct connect A3404A cards are loop (direct) mode. fcmsutil shows;

fcmsutil /dev/fcms3

Local N_Port_ID is = 0x000001
N_Port Node World Wide Name = 0x10000060B0F971CA
N_Port Port World Wide Name = 0x10000060B0F971CA
Topology = IN_LOOP
Speed = 1062500000 (bps)
HPA of card = 0xFFB08000
EIM of card = 0xFFFA200C
Driver state = READY
Number of EDB's in use = 0
Number of OIB's in use = 0
Number of Active Outbound Exchanges = 1
Number of Active Login Sessions = 3

Re: What is the Fibre Driver on a K machine (HP-UX 11.0)?

Hi Stuart,

I take it back. For your fibre card you only need;

# FCMassStorage B.11.00 Fibre Channel Mass Storage

Which is on any apps CD. This is for your A3404A. Our servers have both installed so I erroneously listed the A6685A (this is for a fabric/switch HSC fibre card - not yours).

dont forget patches for it to - search the patch database on the itrc. We use;

PHKL_21834 B.11.00.AA Fibre Channel Mass Storage Driver Patch
