ZDB and ASM
Hi,
Has anybody implemented zero downtime backup with ASM ? I've previosly used zdb with raw logical volumes, putting the db in hotbackup mode sync splitting the mirror copy and then backuping up the raw lvols.
Is it possible to backup the mirror copy of vols as they are ASM managed, would DataProtector expect to see lvol rather than raw disks?
Thanks
Michael

Re: ZDB and ASM
I think your best bet for backups of Oracle, regardless of the storage layer (ASM, raw devices, file systems, etc.), with zero DB downtime is to utilize RMAN. If you backup program can interface with RMAN, then that would be the way to go.
