asynchronous I/O to disk

I'm getting oracle trace files created referring to errors "WARNING:Could not set the asynch I/O limit to 65 ".. .
How do i determine if my hp-ux 11.23 rx6600 supports asychronous I/O. I know i can turn asynch io off in the database by setting
disk_asynch_io=false and filesystemio_options=none.

But if the system supports asych io , then maybe i should attempt to find out why i'm getting the errors in the trace files?
